Consider the WHOLE System

For soon to be parents you need to realize that you are not just shopping for a stroller. You are shopping for a whole system that includes the bassinet, stroller, and car seat (if you plan on taking your baby in the car). This means that you need to look not only for the stroller, but also to check if the car seat you want has the adapters available for the stroller. Most brands also make their own seats so those typically do not require adapters but sometimes you want to mix and match! For example pairing a Cybex Car Seat with an Uppababy Stroller would require you to purchase a special adapter.

The Weight

I would say one of the things that we overlooked when shopping for a new stroller was that weight really really matters. Like you are going to be lugging these thing around up and down stairs, into car trunks, and doing all of it while also carrying your baby. You really cannot overlook the weight factor. There are some AMAZING strollers that are very popular that clock in at a pretty hefty weight. The Uppababy Cruz V3 frame and seat weigh 26.5 lbs which is interesting as there are alternatives like the Bugaboo Dragonfly frame and seat that weighs 23.1 lbs. While the 3.4 lbs difference does not sound like a lot, believe me you will take every pound of portability when you are tired and hungry.

You Will Likely Have Multiple Strollers!

Here is the thing, you often start with looking for the “one” stroller. But I would say relax! There are quite a few reasons for getting multiple strollers, if you invested $800 dollars into a stroller for example you may not want to take that said expensive stroller on a vacation trip knowing it could be damaged or lost. Therefore there is a case for buying a second “beater” stroller. You may also find that you want to travel and the travel strollers while very light and super portable are usually lacking the nice comfort features of the bigger strollers (like size). So you may purchase a beater stroller too! All through the parenting journey you may find other use cases that would require you to change a stroller and that is all part of the fun and part of the journey! Our advice is to start with one stroller that you think will work for most of your use cases and then expand your collection as the different needs arise.
